Project 2

Introduction

This project encountered difficulties not due to its complexity but because of the temperatures involved. One of the main ingredients for making pizza is the oven. Mini pizza ovens are currently in vogue, allowing people to improve their pizza-making skills with some practice. The oven used in this project is a small gas oven, which cooks one pizza in about 3 minutes.

Research and Development

After the first pizza, three negative points were identified: the size of the opening, a flame present on three sides, and significant heat output. These three aspects made cooking difficult, with the risk of burning the pizza. To address at least two of these points, it was decided to rotate the pizza continuously, in order to better distribute the heat and improve the cooking process.

To achieve this, a rotating plate was created. The plate is mounted on a rotating axis, which is connected to a motor that allows it to rotate continuously. For this project, an electric motor for rotisseries was used, adapted to create a mount for the rotating plate. The plate was made from a 2.5mm thick steel sheet with four holes through which screws were fixed. The stone disc on which the pizza will cook is placed on top of this. The motor is powered by a 220v and the rotation speed is around 3 rpm.

Conclusion

The project is still in its early stages, but it has already shown promising results. The rotating plate has improved the cooking process, and further improvements are planned for the future. In the future, I plan to add a temperature sensor to monitor the temperature of the oven and adjust the rotation speed accordingly. This will help ensure that the pizza is cooked evenly and at the right temperature. And this what it can do : Pizza as a Service :)
